Sheltered Passage – The D’Entrecasteaux Channel

Sheltered-Passage“Sheltered Passage” is a documentary project about the people and landscapes of the D’€™Entrecasteaux Channel on the southeast Tasmanian coast. Funded entirely by community donations, the six-part series will feature the Tasmanian Aboriginal community, local fishermen, the Huon Island Little Penguin colony, a Japanese recluse named Hissou living simply in the bush, a look at Bruny Island and at the newly established marine reserve in the channel.

We’€™ll try to follow the progress of the film-makers as they compile these stories, and in the meantime, here’s a sample of their work – the trailer for fisherman Des Wayman’s story:
